About Us

MISSION STATEMENT

At US HANDBALL UNION, we operate for the advancement of participation and competition in the sport of Handball nationally, to support, foster, develop, and otherwise grow the sport of Handball in the US, and, particularly, for the development of amateur athletes, coaches, and officials for local, regional, national and international Handball competition.

“WE ARE US HANDBALL UNION”

Formed through an unprecedented collaboration and the exceptional commitment of numerous American clubs and handball supporters, the US Handball Union is a 501(c)(3) organization that assists the development, management, and support of handball and its growth across the country.

Handball is an incomparable combination of speed, physicality, cooperation, and artistry. It has an undoubtedly bright future ahead of it across the US; of course, this is a fact that has now been true for 50 years running.
Our vision for US Handball Union is to house a collaborative community that supports and improves the efforts of the clubs and individuals across the sport. We strive to provide accessible events, programming, and resources to every handball athlete, official, coach and supporter.
Our goal is to furnish better playing opportunities, connect and empower the builders of the sport locally and nationally, and play our part in driving the growth and culture of handball in the US to its full potential, both on and off the court.

Some People We’d Like You to Meet…

He is an attorney with a Juris Doctor for Northwestern Law, for whom he still provides academic research and papers on Sports Law and Associations. He has contributed to the broader US Handball community for years in a number of roles, and is currently seated contemporaneously as the Competition Committee Chair for USHU, provides leadership on and off the court as a member of New York Athletic Club, and serves as Head Coach of Ohio State Women’s Handball.

JD has previously served on various regional and national organizational boards in US Handball, has served on the staffs of US Men’s Senior and Junior National Teams, and has been the common denominator in the creation of more than a third of the active collegiate handball clubs in the United States. Continuing to compete in both indoor and beach handball, Katiann brings USHU experience from several grassroots and community handball projects from California to the Midwest over the last several years. She also volunteers her time to provide consulting and support services to animal shelters and rescue nonprofits across the country…so yeah, what have you done lately?

Joey has hosted multiple national tournaments, founded the Detroit Handball Club, and operates The American Handball Company. His energy and creative solutions to problems facing handball in the US have resulted in substantial progress developing the game in his local community, created the first playing opportunities in the country following the Pandemic, and have brought more, quality handball fun to hundreds of players each year, including some of the most unique events ever offered to the community.
